River cruising

River Cruises Planned by Grace Morris

Let the scenery come to you.

A river cruise places you close to the heart of a destination. Unpack once, watch landscapes pass beyond your window, and step ashore in towns and cities where the story of the region is waiting.

Why travel by river?

River cruising offers a graceful rhythm: mornings in a new place, afternoons following the water, and evenings back aboard without repacking. Ships dock close to many historic centers, making it easy to experience local life while enjoying the comfort and consistency of one welcoming home base.

Which river cruise line fits your style?

AmaWaterways, Viking, and Tauck approach river travel in different ways. I compare the pace, excursions, dining, accommodations, and overall atmosphere against what matters to you. The best choice is not simply a route; it is the combination of ship and experience that feels natural.

  • AmaWaterways — active choices and warm, contemporary ships
  • Viking — destination-focused voyages with a clean, understated style
  • Tauck — deeply guided touring and broad inclusions

What has Grace experienced firsthand?

I have personally sailed river cruises with AmaWaterways and Avalon Waterways. That experience helps me speak to the day-to-day feeling aboard, from the pace of excursions to the atmosphere at dinner. I use what I have learned on the rivers to make your recommendations clearer and more personal.

On both of my AmaWaterways river cruises, through the waterways of Holland and Belgium and along the Rhine, meeting other guests was easy. Conversations started naturally in the lounge, on walking tours, and at dinner. We met fellow travelers from St. George Island, Florida, and Louisville, Kentucky, and before long we were talking Southeastern Conference football like old friends. For travelers who enjoy good company, that’s one of my favorite things about river cruising.

Can I add a land journey before or after my cruise?

Yes. I plan land journeys before and after your cruise, coordinating accommodations, transportation, and experiences with your sailing. Extra time on land can give you room to settle in before boarding or explore after disembarking. Share your interests in the planning form so I can shape the extension around you.

Where can I go on a river cruise?

You can explore Europe’s rivers, sail the Nile in Egypt, or discover Southeast Asia along the Mekong. I help you choose the river and cruise line around the places you want to see, your interests, and your preferred pace.

  • Europe's rivers (Danube, Rhine, Seine, Douro)

How will your river journey take shape?

Your planning form gives me a starting point, and our conversation brings the details into focus. My planning fee starts at $250 per person, depending on the complexity of your trip. Our first consultation is free. The fee is due only after we both decide to move forward, before I begin designing your trip. When you book your trip with me, the full planning fee is credited toward the cost of your trip. I then research and refine a river journey around your timing, interests, comfort, and preferred pace.
